For any interested:

VBDOS's BC supports

/fpi and also /fpi87
At the moment, I do not know what effect /fpi87 has on code generation.
I suspect it either
(i) puts some marker to link with 87.LIB
(ii) or better still, does not generate emulation code

/fpi87 has no effect on code generation. That is a shame.
